Engineering Enzymes and Proteins with Additional Functional Domains as Integral Part of Novel Interfaces and Materials
We utilize recombinant DNA technology protocols to perform cloning and expression of various heterologous proteins using prokaryotic cells (E. coli, and Bacillus) or eukaryotic cells (Saccharomyces, Pichia and Candida species). We work with various proteins engineered to conjugate multifunctional domains covering diverse enzymes and photoactive proteins. These fusion proteins can be immobilized onto several sensor surfaces with orientation control or entrapped into nanofibers to bring additional properties when combined with nanoparticles complexes or composite materials.
